Psalms 117:2 NASB1995 For His lovingkindness is great toward us, And the truth of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord!
The truth of the Lord is everlasting! In a time where people say truth is relative. God states the truth. Truth is absolute and is everlasting. There is no relative truth. Something is true, or it is not. Where people get mixed up on this is when they tie opinion to truth or do not define a parameter. I looked up examples of what people claimed to be relative truths. "This food is spicy. The next person says this food is not spicy. There are two things that they miss in this statement. 1st, they are stating an opinion, not a truth, and 2nd. Their opinion is true based on the parameter of their definitions of spicy. There were many statements that fall into this category. Then there was the statement abortion is morally wrong. I say this is truth, but another says it is not. Does that mean there is no absolute truth? No, it means we either have different parameters of morality or if we don't, then one of us is lying. Truth is truth; however, it can also be taken out of context. When I was in high school, I talking about a Yugo car and made the statement that Yugoslavia is a nation. That is a true statement. Yet now Yugoslavia is no longer a nation. Did my statement become a lie? No, in the context of when I said it, the truth is the truth. Therefore, the context is wrong, not the truth. Now, all of this can be very confusing, so let me simplify it. Jesus is the truth John 14:6 NASB1995 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
The truth of the Lord is everlasting.
That means truth is absolute as the Lord is the truth.
There is absolute truth in the absolute Savior of the absolutely sinful world. When a person absolutely places their faith in the absolute Truth of Jesus they will know the Truth. This is because "the truth of the Lord is everlasting."
So as our text today ends, "Praise the Lord!"
