Who is Jesus?
He is God in flesh. The only Begotten of the Father. The second head of the one triune God. He is the Savior of the world. The redeemer and sustainer of life. He is the atonement of the sin debt. He is the resurrection, the way, the truth, and the life!
Jesus is all of these things and much more. He is Lord. He is God with us. He is the Salvation of Yahweh for a sinful creation!
When I first placed my faith in who Jesus is. I was relying on the testimony of others, plus the testimony, conviction, and drawing of the Holy Spirit as my reason for placing my faith in Jesus. That is still the case but now it is so much more. Our text today says John 5:36 NASB1995 But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works that I do—testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.
The testimony of others was a testimony of the works Jesus had done in their lives. The testimony of the Holy Spirit was working on me by convicting me of my sin. He was showing me the earnings of my sins, which are judgment and death. He was drawing me to the only way that I could have life eternal through the truth of Jesus the Son. With this testimony of works, conviction of sin, and drawing me to repent and trust in the Way, I placed my faith in Jesus. He now shows me His WORKS as a testimony every day. For example God daily answers my prayers. He daily guides me in His direction. He daily lifts me up out of the mire of the world. I experience miracles EVERYDAY in my life. God leads me to scripture every day for my edification. He leads me to a different scripture every day for a devotion to benefit His Church. He reveals to me every day how much He loves me and desires to spend time with me. He writes these devotions through me daily. What I am saying is, today, that faith is even stronger because I now have the WORKS of Jesus in my life, which God has grown my faith upon. Jesus said it this way in our text. "The works which the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works that I do—testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me."
The work Jesus does in my life every day is MIRACULOUS, and they testify to me daily that Jesus is God's Son sent by the Father to seek and save those who are lost.
At this point in my faith walk even if no one else ever testified to me who Jesus is again, I know in faith (that has grown by the works He has done in me) that He is God the Son!
He has accomplished works in me to the point that my faith is by the sight of experiencing Jesus and His works.
This all starts with a measure of faith, even as small as a mustard seed, placed in Jesus, and spending time with Him in discipleship. (The Word became flesh) You can do this in God's word. Then watch His WORKS in you testify to the truth that He is JESUS, (YAHWEH'S SALVATION).
The testimony of others, with the work of the Holy Spirit to place your faith in Jesus is enough to save.
His work in you is what grows the faith to a point of sight, and it is Amazing when you experience His Salvation daily in His, enlarging faith MIRACLES in your life. I desire all to be saved and then to grow to this point. Then to grow even further. I can't wait to see what is next as I bow and worship at the feet of King Jesus the Lord!
