Titus 1:15 NASB1995 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
To the pure all things are pure. This statement refers to the things the Jews referred to as ceremonially clean and unclean. Peter was shown this in Joppa in a vision when God told him in Acts 10 "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy." Peter then went to a Gentile to profess Jesus and His gospel.
Paul just before this verse speaks of a Jew who spoke evil of the Cretans. Paul says this has caused the Cretans to turn away. He corrects them saying to the pure all things are pure.
If we look at anyone as not being worthy of hearing the gospel and given the opportunity to receive Christ we are wrong! Our Creator and our Redeemer have set our worth, and Jesus offers salvation to all. We are every bit as undeserving of God's mercy and grace as anyone and yet God offers it to us.
If we feel deserving and think others are not, Paul says to us, "To those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled."
We must know John 3:16 NASB1995 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Whoever means WHOEVER! ALL! EVERYONE!
No one is exempt from God's salvation if they will believe.
So when people attempt to take this verse out of context inform them what it is actually talking about. If you look at others as being defiled then you are probably defiled yourself. If you look at all as being called by God to receive His salvation and be made clean/pure then you are probably pure yourself.
Is there ANYONE you see as being defiled so that God can't make them clean? I pray not.
