Matthew 24:35 NASB1995 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
I stress the word of God to the church because of its importance, its inerrancy, its truth, its eternality, its authority, its power, its author, its subject, its guidance, its deliverance of the gospel, and its unchanging nature.
God has one authority for us and it has been preserved and proved throughout time. It was delivered by His chosen vessels, and penned in their personality with not a single jot or tittle out of place. 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB1995 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
The word of God is everlasting. Everything it teaches will never change and always be perfect in its truth, direction, and fulfillment. All that you can see in God's creation will cease to exist. The people you know will have a new glorified body. Nothing in sight will remain the same except for the word of God.
As our text says, Matthew 24:35 NASB1995 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
With that in mind, how is it that Christians give it such minimal importance? It is seldom read, It is studied even less and followed hardly ever. With the importance given to God's word by God Himself, don't you think we as Christians ought to place it at the top of our list of things to be involved in every day? Maybe it is the conviction it brings that causes us to not read it. After all, it tells us in Hebrews 4:12 NASB1995 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The thing we must realize is whether we know the word of God or not it is still true and will never change.
In the end, we will be judged by what it says. Either by our sin or by the atoning blood of Jesus. Of course, the more we read and study, the more we realize this, and the more we will share the word of God. That word tells us, Romans 10:9 NASB1995 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
What a wonderful word it is!
