Nehemiah 6:9 NASB1995 For all of them were trying to frighten us, thinking, “They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.

Nehemiah had been working hard for the Lord and was under great attack. The purpose of this attack, he tells us, was to frighten him so he might get discouraged and stop the hard work for the Lord.

From reading this chapter, I think there were times when, in his flesh, he was frightened. From reading this chapter, I believe there were times he had thought about quitting.

I am thankful for this text because it shows us even the heroes of the faith had moments of doubt.

We also see his doubt and his resolve in our verse. Nehemiah asked the Lord, " O God, strengthen my hands." He knew without the Lord's help he could not make it. We must realize that the work of the Lord is important. When we are frightened, we can gain resolve and strength to carry on by seeking God to strengthen our hands for your work.

I love you Lord. Please strengthen my hands, anytime I am doing your work.

Love Bro. Scott
