Luke 2:47 NASB1995 And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.

"I couldn't care less," means you have the least amount of care possible. You really don't care at all.

This is the saying but many people have unknowingly changed it to "I could care less." Meaning you do care some. You do care about the object/statement that was just presented to you.

It is easy to have things twisted when not paying attention to what is said or what the original meaning was or is.

Here is another. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. People say this today, to encourage someone to work hard and do it yourself. However, the statement is actually impossible and was meant as such. You can not lift yourself by your bootstraps as there has to be a foundation to lift off of. The statement was originally used to make fun of a man who had supposedly done something impossible. One of his critics said I suppose he can walk across the water by holding himself up by the straps of his boots.

Over time the meanings have been unknowingly changed.

Since definitions are changed over time the best way to understand the meaning of something is to go to the person who spoke it.

This is what the teachers in the temple were unknowingly doing, and they were amazed!

How often do we seek to understand and interpret the Bible based on preconceived thoughts? When we do this we are twisting the scripture to conform to our desires. Instead of changing ourselves to conform to the desires of God who is the author of scripture. Therefore it is very important that we seek to study and find the actual meaning of the text. We must, however, realize Hebrews 4:12 NASB1995 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The word is unchanging. Psalms 119:89 NASB1995 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

Yes, the Word is unchanging, yet, it convicts us where we are today. It is living, active, piercing, judging, and settled. (unchanging)

Therefore, when struggling to comprehend the Word, it is best to go to the source of the Word, which is the Word. John 1:1-3, 14 NASB1995 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.

You will be amazed at the clarity of the Word when it is given, and explained by the Word.
