Exodus 29:43 NASB95 “I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory.
If we read the whole chapter of Exodus 29, we see there is a need for a young bull, two rams, and unleavened bread. Aaron is to put on his tunic, robe, ephod, and breastpiece. Then he is to put on a turban and set the Holy crown on the turban and then have annointing oil poured on him. All this is done to consecrate him.
Then, verses 10-29 give instructions on how to consecrate him. Verse 30 explains it has to be done over and over for seven days. Then comes the atonement for the altar, and it continues on twice daily: two one-year-old lambs, a grain offering, and a drink offering. All this is done to consecrate everything for the coming of the Lord. It goes into such detail because when they were in His presence they must be prepared! I have condensed it down but they had to make sure everything was perfectly consecrated.
Our God is such a Holy Righteous God! We can not comprehend how Holy and righteous He is.
Then we come to His presence and we see in our text and following. Exodus 29:43-46 NASB95 “I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory. “I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me. “I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. “They shall know that I am the LORD their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the LORD their God.
They had done everything humanly possible to consecrate everything for His arrival. However, God is so Holy that His Glory consecrated everything! In scripture, Moses had to remove his shoes because the ground was Holy. His face shown bright after being in the presence of the Lord. Mount Sinai was covered in smoke and fire at God's presence.
All of this shows us the Sacred Holiness of God.
With every effort of complete obedience to consecrate, which means to make sacred, clean, pure, and set apart as holy, everything ahead of God's presence man attempted to be prepared. However, It was only God's Glory that succeeded in consecrating it and making it prepared for Himself.
Only God can consecrate something or someone to the point of cleanliness that they are able to enter into His presence. No matter how hard man tries and no matter how obedient he is, he cannot consecrate himself enough to be Holy and pure in the presence of God.
Therefore the only way man can enter into God's presence is to be consecrated by God Himself. This text points us to the consecration offered to us through the shed blood of God on the cross. With this poured-out blood of God, we can be cleansed and consecrated so that we can enter into His presence.
Stop trying to be good enough and accept the consecration of Jesus' work on the cross. It is the only way you can enter into the glory of God. It is His Glory that consecrates you. When this happens, then you will attempt to be righteous through the power of God that indwells you simply because you belong to Him. No longer will it be an attempt to be consecrated but it will be because He already consecrated you in His glory!
To that I say;
"Praise the Lord!"
