Have you ever thought about the sovereignty of God? What He says happens! Period. There is no other being, who is never wrong. There is no other being, who is omnipotent (all-powerful). There is no other being, who is omniscient (all-knowing). There is no other being, who is omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time). There is no other being, who has not been created. (Always existed). This is God. There are NO OTHERS! His Words are true whether we like them or not. His design is correct whether we accept it or not. His Grace is above our comprehension. His Mercy is unmeasurable. His Wrath /Punishment is JUST and PERFECT. This wrath is what we will look at today. In Isaiah 21 we see the prophet has been desiring for punishment to come up on the enemies of Judah. As he has desired the word of God to happen. Because God's Word says in Exodus 23:22 But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
Isaiah had been waiting and then God told him to become a watchman and watch the destruction of his enemies. This is what Isaiah says in our text today. Isaiah 21:2-4 A harsh vision has been shown to me; The treacherous one still deals treacherously, and the destroyer still destroys. Go up, Elam, lay siege, Media; I have made an end of all the groaning she has caused. For this reason my loins are full of anguish; Pains have seized me like the pains of a woman in labor. I am so bewildered I cannot hear, so terrified I cannot see. My mind reels, horror overwhelms me; The twilight I longed for has been turned for me into trembling.
Isaiah wanted, he desired, and he begged God to take care of his enemies. So God says you will see my wrath on them. As Isaiah watches, he sees such powerful righteous judgment, that he cries I feel so sick it feels like I a man am giving birth. I am filled with anguish. I am so bewildered I cannot hear, so terrified I cannot see. My mind reels, horror overwhelms me. Then he says, the end I had hoped for, the desire I had for my enemies to suffer has been turned for me into trembling. He couldn't bear the pain.
Some will say I don't understand how God can let this horror happen. Yet God in His sovereignty says I give you the choice. Who is that powerful yet that caring? No one but God! What piece of clay has a right to tell the potter how to mold him. Yet God gives us that freedom. We cannot comprehend His Holiness. All of us are sinners and deserve worse than what Isaiah saw, but God in His unmeasurable Mercy and His uncomprehensible Grace, sent His Son to take this wrath and punishment in our place if we will only place our faith in Him. God gives us a choice by paying the price of His own wrath poured out on Himself. If we will only accept that gift we can escape His wrath. We can learn from Isaiah and see the importance of sharing God's Grace and Mercy with others as well. Remember what Isaiah felt just watching. We should not want any to suffer this Just as God says He doesn't want any to perish. So why would we not obey God and Share the Way! I don't want to watch you suffer. Please receive Jesus! Share with others. Love Bro. Scott
