I started doing these daily devotionals about 4 years ago to help a man who was struggling with sin due to drug addiction. He said he had God as Savior yet his life was given to drugs and not God. Today's scripture makes me think of him. Romans 6:13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
How do you look at your life? Do you not give it any thought at all? If this is the case you feel as if it has and serves no purpose. You just exist and die and affect no one. However, that way of thought is ludicrous. It is silly and is proven wrong every day. If you walk down a sidewalk and encounter someone they must make way for you and you for them this is an effect. Everything you do affects others and the world. So now we look at our lives and how do you see it? Do you see your life as promoting unrighteousness or righteousness? We need to realize our lives are offerings. We either offer it to promote God in righteousness or to promote Satan in unrighteousness. Even if you don't believe, you need to realize if you don't offer yourself to righteousness then you are offering yourself to unrighteousness and where did these two sides come from? A baby has to be taught to do right because it in the flesh desires to do wrong. You never have to teach a baby to lie you have to teach them to be honest. This is ALL babies. So if all are this way who came up with righteousness other than God? This scripture says "Do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness." The words "do not go on," shows that you started that way. It is saying don't continue. It goes on saying "Present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead." This shows life as an offering and it needs to be presented in righteousness. Unrighteousness comes naturally in a dead person who was born this way in the flesh. However, when you are born of God you should attempt to live righteously. (This is a life offered to God). Many have seen that this is a better way to live, but it is a constant struggle for them because righteousness is an attribute of God only and they don't have Him. (This is a life offered to Satan). Others have God but struggle because they don't seek to give their life to Him as an offering. They instead try to live it for themselves. An example of this was the man I spoke of earlier. (Also a life offered to Satan). Others don't care and live unrighteously even when they don't believe in Satan. (A life lived in unrighteousness is a life offered to Satan). Keep these things in mind as you evaluate How you look at your life. Do this while reading this verse again. Romans 6:13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
