1 Corinthians 2:15 NASB1995 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
He who is spiritual is a mature Christian. A man or a woman indwelled by the Holy Spirit discipled in obedience is a spiritual person. Scripture says we appraise, which means to evaluate, examine, value, and apply the Holy Spirit's understanding to ALL things. When we look at abortion we understand by the Spirit that God knew us before he knit us together in our mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 NASB1995 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Therefore, we understand abortion to be murder, but we also understand that the world does not have the guidance of the Spirit to reveal this to them. Therefore when we appraise them we do not have hate but love and compassion in hopes they will come to know Christ. Love does not ignore sin but reveals it in Christ. Thus they will gain this understanding. The same goes for our nation's political scene. At present there is not a party that holds to the understanding provided by the Holy Spirit. This can cause frustration, but in the understanding of the Holy Spirit, we know we should vote for the party that has a platform and policies closest to God's word. Plus, we know that we should understand those who are not guided by the Spirit will, of course, not see things this way. Therefore, anger against them does not serve the Lord, but the presentation of the Gospel will. All of this shows us that if we are to see the world changed for the glory of Christ the answer is not to press in on the people for their lack of understanding. Instead, we are to continually offer them the Gospel. If they receive Jesus and mature in the Spirit then they will be able to appraise the world in the Spirit as well. The text also explains while we might feel judged in this world, in the end, they will not appraise us.
Anger against the world is not the solution. When we truly appraise them with the Spirit, we see the solution is the Gospel!
