Romans 13:14 NASB1995 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
To put on the Lord Jesus is a term that means to completely imitate a person to become that person. Paul is saying we should look, dress, and speak, in such a way that people look at us and see Jesus. We are capable of this only when we dwell in Christ as He dwells in us. John describes this in 1 John 4:13 NASB1995. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
With the Holy Spirit's guidance, we can show the world Jesus, as we are in Him. We are clothed or have put on Jesus. There is no better witness or testimony, than the change in our lives as we stop living in the flesh and are born again in the Spirit. When we live in His guidance people will see Christ. This is the meaning of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ.
However, Paul comes right back with a warning. "Make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lust." One of the easiest ways to ruin or disrupt that projection of Jesus is to sin! We do this by putting on the flesh. Living in it. To do this we take off Jesus and show the world our flesh. This is an illustration of the sin covering in the Garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve sinned they no longer saw the Glory of God covering each other but instead saw the sinful flesh. God came and sacrificed an animal (blood sacrifice) to cover their sinful flesh with the sacrificed animals skin. We must be careful and strive to not show the lust of the flesh, instead of Jesus to the world. How can we do this? We must be obedient to the word (Jesus) of God. Which says "make NO provision for the flesh." Make NO, NONE, ABSOLUTELY ZERO, provisions. A provision is something that was given forethought or supplied ahead of time. This means if you know ahead of time that something is likely to tempt you then remove it or don't go around it. If you are addicted to drugs remove them from around you or remove yourself from their area. If something provides a lustful thought like pornography (a channel on TV, an app, or a person) delete those things from your life. If something causes you to stumble like alcohol, or gossip, then stay away from that isle in the store or that person you gossip with. If an activity is going to cause you to miss corporate fellowship with the saints of God, then don't be involved in it. Make NO PROVISION for sin to cause you to take off Jesus. The lost of the world need to see you with Him put on. Besides that God commands it.
Put on Christ and make no provision to take Him off ever.
John 10:28 NASB1995 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
You can't lose your salvation but you can hide it from others. Let them see Jesus through you!
