What do you seek and strive for in life?
Many will say happiness. Yet others will say that they strive for wealth. Some will say they just seek to be comfortable and many say peace. There is an underlying need that all who are seeking these must have before they will be able to feel as if they have achieved their desire. You cannot reach happiness until you are content with the reach you have. You will never stop seeking wealth until, in contentment, you feel you have enough. You will never be comfortable if you feel as if you need something else. You won't ever be at peace as long as you have a desire for something you don't have. When we look at this in a physical worldly manner we see most desires are for worldly physical things. What we find out is they NEVER provide the contentment you believe they will. True contentment is only found when you know you have everything you need. The only way this is possible is to realize that all we need is God! I have had in the past many physical desires and yet none of them have ever satisfied me. I still have physical desires, but the difference now is I am ok if I never get them because I am content with what I do have, which is God. When you have God and you realize He is the only necessity you truly have. Then you can find happiness in Christ, wealth in Christ's abundant gift of eternal life, comfort no matter what your physical standards are, and can be at peace knowing He is God and He will never leave you or forsake you. Paul explains this to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:6 NASB1995. But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
Godliness signifies being a true Christian. While contentment signifies having your basic needs to survive. When you put the two together you have great wealth. You have wealth that you didn't bring into this world. It was instead provided by God. This wealth you also cannot take with you when you leave this world. This means it is a great God-given gain for this time of life inside the physical world.
Although you can survive in this world without it, you will never have this great gain unless you in God are content.
You, instead, will spend all your life seeking physical things to provide you with your desire and will find with each purchase or gain, that your desire to seek more does not go away. Until you see God has always had the underlying gift for you to be happy, wealthy, comfortable, and at peace, it is contentment in Christ.
I am praying today you will find it!
