Isaiah 9:6 NASB1995 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
700 years later God kept His promise! Galatians 4:4-5 NASB95 — But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
God had promised at the first sin that He would send a redeemer who would be without the sin nature that Adam delivered to all mankind. Genesis 3:15 NASB95 — And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
The seed of a woman yet not of a man. A miracle birth would be required for a redeemer. Isaiah 7:14 NASB95 — “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
Immanuel means God with us. Matthew 1:20-25 NASB95 — But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.” And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.
Jesus is the Greek name of the Hebrew Joshua. The meaning of the name is Yahweh saves. Salvation is provided from death (the wages of sin) by Yahweh who is the creator, sustainer, and redeemer of life. John 3:16 NASB95 — “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
God kept His promise in His Son and He always will. 4000 years is but a moment in timeless eternity. Therefore, don't fret but expectantly wait for His next promise to be fulfilled. John 14:1-6 NASB95 — “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. “And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Do not despair, He is coming again.
God keeps His promises!
Merry CHRISTmas.
